American roots band Pokey LaFarge and the South City Three will be featured on the annual BBC program Hootenanny with Jools Holland, the New Year’s Eve show hosted by the legendary U.K. musician, bandleader and regular host of "Later... with Jools Holland" on BBC. LaFarge and his crew will help Holland to ring in 2012, performing alongside an eclectic array of musical forces, including Cyndi Lauper, James Morrison, Aloe Blaac, Ruby Turner, Sandie Shaw, Betty Wright, The Vaccines and more. The program will air from 11 p.m. on December 31, 2011 until 1 a.m. on January 1, 2012 on BBC Two in the U.K.
This year marks the 19th New Year’s Eve Hootennany, an event that will wrap up the most successful year yet for Pokey LaFarge and the South City Three since the band formed in 2009. In March 2011, the group released a vinyl single on Jack White’s Third Man Records label, then in July released the critically acclaimed, radio chart-topping album Middle of Everywhere. LaFarge and the South City Three were also featured on the “Tiny Desk Concert” series on NPR, and performed nearly 200 live shows and festivals throughout Europe and North America, including a return to the renowned Newport Folk Festival in Newport, RI and a first-time appearance at the Americana Music Festival in Nashville, TN.
