Free Dirt Merges With 12x12 Management and Trade Root Music Group

Free Dirt is pleased to announce the merging of forces with 12x12 Management & Label Services and Trade Root Music. These three independent music agencies have worked together for a number of years on recording and management projects with artists such as Pokey LaFarge, Legendary Shack Shakers, Chumbawamba, Noam Chomsky, Hackensaw Boys, Jolie Holland, Anna & Elizabeth, Dori Freeman, and many others. 

Now, the entire company will operate under the name Free Dirt Records & Service Co. It will include the existing record label and distribution network of the same name, while also specializing in day-to-day business management for artists and other music industry companies, artist tour management services, and music publishing administration. 

Founded in 2006 by 
Dr. Erica Haskell and John Smith, Free Dirt Records & Service Co. releases roots music from around the world, while unearthing and preserving archival traditional music and spoken word recordings.  In addition, Free Dirt provides artists and companies the space, support, and services to succeed in exploring the best of the old and the new.  Free Dirt projects have been featured on NPR’s “Tiny Desk Concerts” and “Weekend Edition,”The New York Times, and Rolling Stone Country, among many other prestigious media outlets.
