Free Dirt Records and the Hamlin Street Diner are thrilled to present bluegrass legend Alice Gerrard live in concert (with special guests) in Washington, DC on September 22! Join us in Northwest, DC at Pierce Hall at All Souls Unitarian Church to celebrate the newly unearthed Hazel Dickens & Alice Gerrard recordings Sing Me Back Home: The DC Tapes, 1965-1969. Get your tickets here.
How better to celebrate the release of these never-before-heard tapes than to return to the very space where, in 1965, the duo recorded their debut album for Folkways, Who's That Knocking? And Other Bluegrass Music. Alice Gerrard will be joined by the next generation of traditional musicians including Joseph Dejarnette, who co-produced the new album, as well as acclaimed old-time duo Jake Blount & Tatiana Hargreaves who will kick off the evening with an opening set.
